Our Big Build
About the big move...
We have recently sent letters out to all of our customers, regarding our big and exciting news. There is a copy of this letter here.
We are writing to inform you
of the new and exciting opportunities that are happening here at Charter House.
Firstly, we would like to
thank you all for your continuing help and support that you have given us over
the last eight years that we have been open. Throughout these years we have had
an ever-increasing growth and popular demand of our services, as a result of
this we have outgrown our current building on Saunder Bank. Here is where the
exciting news comes in…
For over 12 months we have
been working closely with Lancashire county council to secure the use of Brunshaw
Youth Club, through Lancashire county councils asset transfer service, this
allows Charter House to take ownership of a building, to provide and extend our
services for at least the next 125 years.
As stated on
Lancashire County council’s website, “On 7
December, the cabinet agreed in principle the asset transfer of Brunshaw Young
People's Centre in Burnley. The group is proposing to move its current service,
Charter House Activity Centre, into the young people's centre to continue
providing a range of services”.
taking ownership of the premises, Charter House will invest over £50,000 within
the next 12 months, making alterations to the new building to maintain our
level of service, creating a large new sensory room and a larger activity area
providing more services. We have been working alongside
“The Big Issue investment”, “The Reach Fund” and are also awaiting a lottery
grant. We estimate that the move will
take no longer than 2-4 months, we assure our members that our services will
continue with no disruption to the day to day activities.
Our aim is to work with local
businesses and companies in the community asking them to donate materials, or
time to renovate the building, supporting their local community in providing
and improving much needed services. If you know of any services or
organisations that would like to get involved please get in touch.
We are also launching a
clothing recycling project, if anyone has any unwanted clothing, please donate
these to Charter House. We will keep you up-to-date
with any developments as soon as we are aware of any news.
Thank you once again for your
